★★★☆☆
The South section of the GR20 is by far the easiest of this so-called toughest multi-day hike in Europe. Here, the trail is less steep and rocky, and the terrain is more forgiving. The South section is often recommended for those who want to experience the GR20 without the more extreme challenges of the North section, or for those who are looking for a more leisurely hike with stunning views and a chance to enjoy the natural beauty of Corsica. Did you know that this southern route crosses areas steeped in Corsican history — from old mule tracks to stone ruins that date back to ancient herding traditions.

The GR20 has dedicated bivouac sites next to the refuges, and sometimes next to hostels, where it is free to camp and enjoy some facilities such as proper toilets or food.
All stages on the GR20 have access to refuges or hostels, but do book in advance as they can fill up quickly, especially in the summer months.
